Hunting cliches become more realistic every year. The one that says "Never pass up a buck on the first day that you would take on the last day" becomes more truthful every year.   The 2006-2007 fall season will go down as the worst on record. Drought for two years, 90 degree weather, moon phases, and a month delay in the rut surely had something to do with it. Mature bucks never moved until the third week in December.   Our hunters had a 99% kill rate with the remaining hunter passing on a 160 inch B&C buck. Hunting the next 3 1/2 days for the same buck, he went back to Georgia with no deer.   Many high scoring bucks were passed on the first day's hunt, with hunters regrettably taking small bucks later on.
Our best of the year went to Frank Bonavita of New York with a beautiful 153 inch B&C.   Already, in January 2007 we have seen 1/8 of the rain we saw in all 2006.   Have a happy & prosperous new year. We look forward to seeing you in 2007-2008. Thanks to our past, present, and future hunters. Pray for our troops overseas.
